Expert Support
Our Nutrition & Sustainability School Support Programme is designed to help schools create a healthier environment. We offer tailored workshops, cooking demonstrations, and pop-up events that focus on nutrition and sustainability. These interactive, enjoyable sessions cater to students of all ages, making healthy eating easy to learn and fun to practice.
In addition, our ‘Ask the Nutritionist’ lunchtime stands are available during Healthy Eating or Wellbeing Weeks. Our experts are there to answer student questions, offer tips, and encourage positive food choices.
Farm Tours: Meet Our Suppliers!
Students can experience the journey from farm to table firsthand with our Farm Tours, available on request for school outings. These tours give students the opportunity to meet local suppliers and see how food is grown and produced.
Reward Charts
To encourage healthy habits in a fun way, we offer Reward Charts for students. These charts are a great tool for tracking progress in healthy eating, reducing food waste, and participating in sustainability activities. Students can earn stickers or other rewards for making positive food choices, trying new fruits and vegetables, or contributing to food waste reduction efforts. The reward system motivates students to develop lasting healthy behaviours in a playful and engaging manner.
Classroom Resources
We provide nutrition and sustainability educational resources and materials including activity sheets.
The sustainability resources align with Green Flag themes. For example, our Waste Warriors campaign for Stop Food Waste Day raises awareness about food waste and encourages students to become champions of sustainability.
The nutrition resources educate on how to have a healthy body and healthy mind guiding students to making choices that will support their physical and mental health.
Nutri Nuggets
Learning about nutrition can be exciting! Here are some fun nuggets of knowledge to spark curiosity:
- Did you know that bananas are berries and strawberries are not?
- Proteins are like building blocks for the body – they help it grow and repair itself. Protein is found in meat, fish and eggs, nuts, beans, and lentils.
- Dairy products are packed with calcium and they help keep our bones and teeth healthy.
- Wholegrain carbohydrates such as brown bread, oats, and wholegrain pasta help to keep us feeling fuller for longer and give us the energy we need to carry on being active all day long.
-
Did you know that bell peppers contain more Vitamin C than oranges? Vitamin C helps our bodies fight (nasty) bugs and helps our cuts heal when we hurt ourselves.
