Glanmore Foods is committed to being an Environmentally Friendly company.
Packaging & Recycling
Glanmore Foods has implemented a company-wide recycling program. Our Office, Production and Packing staff have been trained in correct waste segregation and we are increasing our recycling level year on year, currently achieving > 40% annually. We strive to reduce packaging where possible. We achieve this in a number of ways, including: Use of a reusable tray to distribute our lunches. We use minimal packaging and recyclable material where possible.
Glanmore Foods have always been conscious of energy conservation, with timers and sensors in a number of locations to reduce lighting and cooling bills. Since 2011 we have also been educating staff in ways to reduce energy consumption throughout the factory - turning off lights and machines when not in use, closing doors etc. This energy saving drive was in conjunction with St. Catherine's of Cabra. We were over the moon when, in May 2011, their project won first prize in the An Taisce / Electric Ireland Green Schools Energy Project
As part of our Corporate Social Responsibility Policy, we are a member of Repak - Irelands producer recycling fund. Our membership of Repak ensures that we meet our responsibility to the environment and to the Irish public by contributing to the cost of recycling the packaging which we supply to our customers. Over the last decade, membership of Repak has enabled us and over 2000 other Irish businesses to contribute over €200m to support Irelands national packaging recycling programs.
In 2014 we were delighted to be named a Repak National Finalist in the awards category for Best Packaging Prevention Initiative, for our work on packaging minimisation.
